At least four Chief Magistrate Courts are recipients of new four-wheel drive pick-up double cabins.

Principal Assistant Secretary, Mr. Samuel Sabiiti Komunda, speaking today at the High Court in Kampala said the Judiciary policy is to facilitate courts in terms of transport.

He made these remarks while handing over the key to a new double cabin pickup to Tororo Chief Magistrate, HW Ruth Nabaasa.

The Courts that have received new vehicles include Tororo, Wakiso, Masaka and Hoima Chief Magistrate's Court.

He said although funds are inadequate, hard to reach areas as well as courts that have wide coverage are being prioritized.

Mr Komunda said the phased distribution of vehicles will depend on the allocation of funds made by the Ministry of Finance.

He urged the Magistrates receiving the vehicles to keep them in good condition so that they can serve for a longer period.

HW Nabaasa expressed her gratitude to the Judiciary administration especially the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to Judiciary for the kind gesture.

She said, "this will go a long way in helping me to execute my tasks."

Last year, vehicles were distributed to Arua, Kabale and Moroto. According to Mr Komunda, five more vehicles will be distributed to other courts before the end of the Financial Year.
